I knew I wanted some sort of e-reader, but I've been trying to figure out which one. I've done some research, and I went to look at the various ones out there. I ended up buying this one - a Literati by Sharper Image. The price is definitely right - $49 at Best Buy. That's a smoking deal. I downloaded 5 free books - to check it out. It is longer than a Kindle, weighs the same and it comes with a carrying case. How could I go wrong? So I am currently trying it and I am reading "The Secret Agent" by Joseph Conrad written in 1906, I think. I am enjoying it. It is very easy to read in the dark because it is back lit. It's easy to hold. I am told the battery life is about 7 hours, which is not very long, but I think for $49, it will work just fine.
Merry Christmas to me!

Merry Christmas to you is right!!! You are going to LOVE digital reading!!! I have a Kindle and I LOVE it. I'm curious, where do you purchase your books... or should I say, where did you download your freebies from? ;)
I have to buy/download my books from kobobooks.com. I know the libraries have free books, but I have been told they are not compatible with the Kindle or the Nook. Aren't you restricted to Amazon.com?
