Unusual candle holders

Remember that trip I took to the Antique Mall?  I picked these up, and forgot to show you... tell me what they really are...

... rusty bed springs!  You could buy them as singles, which these are, or you could buy a set of 3, 4, or 5 still together in a row.  I placed votive candles inside the springs and they are a perfect fit.  I think I need the clear glass votive holders in order for them to burn properly.  Right now, I just like looking at them.  Wouldn't they look neat on a patio table?  Sitting outside and enjoying the cooler weather?  I'm just afraid the candles would melt in this heat.  Better wait on that idea.
