Happy Halloween!

You know, I just love making holiday treat bags for Kate's first grade class.  They are so cute and really love anything you give them.  I always pass it by Kate and get her approval for what I give the kids.  This year, for Halloween, we decided to make popcorn and mix it with candy corn.  I had my sister, Susan, and my brother-in-law, Jim, over for dinner and engaged them, along with my own  two girls, Kate and Kim, into helping me put together these bags...
We set up an assembly line - I popped the corn,
Susan stuffed the bags,
Kim measured and added the candy corn,
Kate put the candy and cookies in a different bag,
and bringing up the rear, was Jim, who put on the twistie ties.
We had a really nice, family time.
Popcorn ghosts, treat bags, and Halloween pencils.
Happy Halloween!

Miss me?

I have been really busy - at work - getting ready for a trial.  I was working quite a few hours and am glad that is over.  I am not sure where to start, but let's see what photos I have taken...
Okay - you are going to have to turn your head to the left for a couple of these photos.  (So sorry!)  I went with my friend, Pat, to her church's event called Trunk 'r Treat.  People bring their cars to the church parking lot, decorate the trunk, and then greet trick or treaters from the backs of their cars.  It was really a lot of fun and really provides a fun night for the families in the neighborhood.  I don't know how many kids showed up but EVERYONE ran out of candy.  Pets were dressed in costumes...
Adults were dressed in costumes - hey, Pat, aren't you a little old to be trick or treating?
Here are two little girls who were having a great time - running the show - I fell in love with Faith, the blue-haired beauty.  She was willing to let me wear her blue wig, if I wanted.
Thanks, Pat, for the invite.  I had a wonderful time!

We've ALL done it....

My girls are 24 and 26, but I am not above saying "I did this"
and
it is what kept me going each day.
Thanks, Kate and Kim.

Photos from Scrapfest12

We didn't take part in Scrapfest this year, but Nicole and I still wanted to go and check it out, look up a couple of friends.  So here are the few photos I took while walking through the Mall of America.

This event is put on Archivers.
Beautiful papers and beautiful projects.
And no trip to Minnesota would be complete without our coffee.

More [great] Photos from Junk Bonanza 2012

I never had a chance to post these photos on my blog, but it was always my intention to share them.  I feel it's never too late to share the cool stuff being sold and featured at Junk Bonanza.
I always have to get a photo of the Minneapolis skyline.
We're here, walking up to the door.
A bouquet made from jewelry.
A kitchen butcher block island using baskets from an old gym locker or swimming pool as storage underneath.
This bench started out as a door.
A rotobin!  Remember?  I have one.  This one is pretty beat up, and it is a small table top model, but we saw a couple of large ones at the event and noticed that not one of them was for sale.
They were all being used for displays.
(I am patting myself on the back right now.)
Lamp shades made from multiple products.
I am kicking myself over this one.  I saw it the first day and didn't check into shipping, but sure wish I would have.  It was a beautiful paper tray.  I asked about it the second day, and ... it was already gone.  Aaaarrrrrggghhh!
What's that saying?  When you snooze, you lose.
 More great cabinets..
Milking by machine - must have been a new concept.
Sample teeth - many shapes and colors.  Honestly, I can't think of what I would do with them.
 Pearls were popular this year.
So true - we love our junk!
Garden decorations made from old flatware and jars.
Lots of stuff to look at in this booth.
Love the retro metal dining room chairs.
Bird houses are always popular and "cozy."
Old bed springs make great candle holders.
Vintage grocery store signs were not cheap - $5 and up.
They would be great to frame and place on a kitchen wall.

There was so much to see and just looking at these pictures
make me want to start making plans for next year!

Greek Festival

Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Phoenix held their 52nd (?) Annual Greek Festival.  I had never been and my friend, Maryanna, wanted to go - she was invited by friends - so we went.  Nicole and her girls met us there, but I failed to get photos of the girls.  So sorry, Bob and Marlene (a/k/a Gramma and Grandpa Sota).
There was dancing... lots of dancing...
and food.
Don't be surprised by this lamb on a spit.
This particular lamb was being raffled off and I believe tickets were $10 each.
It looked a little too gamey for me - and really big!
What would you do with all of that meat?
Did you ever see the movie "My Big Fat Greek Wedding" ?
It really made me laugh, but the lamb on the spit reminded me of the scene where they are cooking out in the front yard.
Here's the scene.  Lots of people.  Meat on a spit.
I can't remember the names of this dessert, but they were the Greek version of donuts.
Very good - they tasted like honey.
We had a nice afternoon.
Weather was absolutely gorgeous!
Company was great!

It's so nifty - Carter's 50!

yep, today is Carter's birthday... and yes, he is 50!  It's just a number, Carter.  No worries.  It only gets better from this point on.  Just for fun, I made a little chipboard book to celebrate his 50th birthday!  Start off with a birthday card to match his book...

Have a wonderful day, Carter!
